WoW Forever dungeon finder and summoning: how to organise a group

How meeting stones, group listings and Warlock summons work in WoW Forever, plus a practical dungeon-night checklist for your guild.

Do meeting stones summon players?

According to Wowhead’s summary of the Kotaku developer interview, Forever meeting stones provide access to group listings rather than summoning players. The developers describe travel as part of the social experience. Plan to reach the entrance yourself unless your group has arranged a Warlock summon. This is interview reporting, not our own beta test.

Group listings are not a teleport queue

Finding a party and getting that party to the dungeon are separate jobs. Warcraft Tavern’s BlizzCon demo report describes a listing interface without automatic group formation or dungeon teleportation. It also describes Ritual of Summoning as requiring a Warlock and two assisting party members at the destination. Confirm the current spell requirements in the client before relying on a summon.

A recruitment message should therefore name the dungeon, the roles still needed, the meeting point and the intended start time. Say whether “start” means leaving town or making the first pull. A full party can still lose much of its evening if everyone interprets that time differently.

A dungeon-night checklist

Use the following as an organiser’s checklist. These are suggested planning steps, not additional game rules.

Before the first pull
WhenWhat to confirm
When advertisingDungeon, target level range, missing roles, language and finish time.
Before invitingPlayer location, travel plans and whether anyone needs help finding the entrance.
Before departureRepair, supplies, available time and any agreed quest objectives.
If summoningA willing Warlock, the required assistants and the current spell requirements.
At the entranceEveryone present, loot expectations agreed and a clear person leading the route.

Example: turn an 8 pm listing into a clear plan

For a hypothetical 8 pm first pull, ask members to confirm their route beforehand and choose a meeting time that leaves room for the slowest traveller. Write both times with a time zone. If someone is still in another zone at the meeting time, decide whether the group waits, changes the destination or invites a replacement; avoid leaving everyone guessing.

Ask newcomers whether they know the entrance. “I can guide you from the nearest flight point” is more helpful than assuming they have a route or flight path unlocked. Only publish specific directions after checking them in Forever, because a familiar Classic location is not evidence that every approach is unchanged.

Can a guild run without a Warlock?

Yes: the travel-based plan does not depend on having a summon. Recruit for the group’s intended roles and arrange travel explicitly. Treat a summon as an agreed convenience rather than an obligation imposed on one player.

For destination choices, use our dungeon level-range guide. For a recurring team, record availability in the roster template and keep the agreed meeting instructions with the event invitation.
