What is changing about mount costs?
Wowhead’s summary of the Kotaku developer interview reports a shift of the gold expense toward riding training rather than the mount item. It does not provide a complete price list. That means an old Classic shopping list is not a verified Forever budget, and a cheaper-looking mount item would not by itself mean cheaper access to riding.
New mount names found in the client
Warcraft Tavern’s mount-name datamine includes Galestriders, a Forsaken Charger and several unfamiliar mount families. These are records found in the files; neither a name nor a colour variant proves a launch reward or an acquisition method.
| Datamined example | What still needs checking |
|---|---|
| Empyrean Galestrider | Availability, riding requirement and acquisition source. |
| Summon Forsaken Charger | The actual class quest requirements and costs. |
| Black Devilsaur Mount | Whether this model becomes an obtainable mount. |
| Swift Hyjal Stag | Whether its name has any connection to a reward source. |
| Black Druid Moose Mount | Whether it is player-obtainable; the name alone does not establish class access. |
Forsaken Paladin mount previews
There is also dedicated Wowhead coverage of Forsaken Paladin mount datamining. Use it as a preview, then check quest availability in the actual game. Do not buy materials based on an assumed copy of another version’s Paladin quest chain.
If a guild wants to help a player obtain a class mount, first ask for the current quest objectives. A contribution request should list confirmed materials, what is already owned and what remains missing. That prevents several members buying the same component or donating towards an unverified requirement.
Build a mount budget from the trainer and vendor
Record training and the mount purchase as separate lines. Add any required quest expenses only when the quest is available and checked. Note the character’s level, faction, reputation discounts and client build alongside each observed price; two screenshots with different conditions may both be accurate.
| Budget line | Record |
|---|---|
| Riding training | Trainer, required skill or level, displayed price and discounts. |
| Mount item | Vendor or quest, displayed price and prerequisites. |
| Quest materials | Only the quantities required by the verified quest. |
| Gold still needed | Confirmed total minus the gold already reserved. |
Do not build a farming route from a mount name
A region name can describe an appearance or an internal art label. It does not establish a boss drop, reputation threshold or drop rate. Keep a wish list for appearances separate from the list of rewards with verified sources.
For guild travel, ask whether members actually have the movement options needed for the planned route. A prospective purchase is not yet available for tonight’s dungeon. Our summoning guide explains how to set a meeting plan that works while players are still saving.
