What level is Ruins of Lordaeron?
Blizzard’s dungeon list places Ruins of Lordaeron at levels 15–20. Wowhead’s detailed beta guide, checked on 29 September, recommends 16–22. These describe an announced range and an author’s recommendation; neither establishes a hard entrance requirement.
This guide combines the latest walkthrough coverage with an organiser’s checklist. RaidMuster has not independently played these encounters. Use the observations below to prepare your first run, and confirm quest access and abilities in the current beta build.
Where is the entrance, and can Alliance enter?
The entrance is above Undercity, inside the ruined keep approached from Tirisfal Glades. Look left after entering the ruins. Ruse_Cruize’s Mobalytics guide places it on the courtyard’s eastern side, at approximately 71.6, 11.4 on the Undercity map. Those coordinates do not refer to the wider Tirisfal map.
Alliance can enter and have their own quests, but should arrange the journey before advertising a first-pull time. Ask a member who knows the approach to meet newcomers outside. Use our dungeon travel and summoning guide when agreeing how the group will get there.
Collect the right quests for your faction
Neryssa’s quest reference lists six Horde quest lines and four Alliance lines. Several begin with items inside the dungeon. Alliance players should speak to Captain Truman, but that conversation alone does not start every Alliance quest.
| Faction and timing | Quest starts |
|---|---|
| Horde: outside | A Frightened Request — Tabitha Heartweaver, the Sepulcher; The Wrath of Rath’mael — Deathguard Kristof, Tirisfal Glades. |
| Horde: Undercity | Light’s Justice — Morbin Lightbane; The New Plague — Theodore Griffs. |
| Horde: inside | Unending Torment — The Baron’s head; Crest of Lordaeron — a quest-starting crest. |
| Alliance: inside | Abominable Creatures — Captain Truman; Bloodied Insignia — a dropped item; Crest of Lordaeron — a crest; Remember That I Love You — a Blood-Stained Letter. |
Six bosses: brief the group before the trigger
Wowhead’s 28 September walkthrough reports that the six bosses can be tackled in any order. The following cues summarise Icy Veins’ encounter observations. They are a short preparation reference, not a complete route or final ability list.
| Boss | Prepare for |
|---|---|
| Witherfang | Patrolling spider and adds; check your group’s poison removal. |
| The Baron | Cleave and a threat-reducing knockback; leave the tank a clear landing area. |
| Viktor the Vile | Fireplace-triggered enemy waves; recover before anyone activates the event. |
| The Abandoned | Statue-triggered waves, roots and Drain Life; agree who stops the cast. |
| Bjork | Reported tank knockback; avoid leaving uncleared enemies behind the tank. |
| Rath’mael | Flamestrike and nearby area damage; discuss stops and movement before pulling. |
What if Viktor the Vile does not appear?
The 28 September walkthrough reports that Viktor can fail to spawn in beta. This is a reported issue, not a confirmed diagnosis for every unfinished event. Check that the group actually started and completed the preceding waves before assuming the spawn failed.
If progression stops, record the client build, event trigger and last completed wave. Capture the empty encounter area if useful, then submit a beta bug report. Agree a stopping point with the group rather than spending the rest of the evening repeatedly trying an unverified workaround.
Turn the dungeon plan into a reliable guild run
Before invitations, collect each player’s level, intended role, available finish time and outstanding quests. Use the guild roster template to record the people attending; keep this dungeon’s quest checklist with the run notes. Count the player who can attend tonight, not every character they own.
Choose one caller for event triggers and one person to check quest progress before leaving each area. Ask members to name the stops and recovery tools they actually have at their current level. A class label alone does not tell you which abilities a player has learned.
At the end, separate completed objectives from unfinished turn-ins. Record whether another run is for a missed quest, a particular drop or helping a newcomer. That gives the next group a clear purpose and keeps a short catch-up run from becoming an unexpected full clear.
